The inspiration for Michelle?

I thought everybody knew that...

Paul got the inspiration for this song from seeing French art students at a party, dressed in their berets and sporting beards. Paul wrote the song at first while sitting with Jane Asher on her sofa. He didn't originally have the name Michelle in the song that was John's idea.
